This year has truly been like a football game and, for many of us, it seems like we are the ball. Tossed, kicked, fumbled, passed and run with, our futures seem to be at the whim of titanic forces whose “team” logos are signs of the Zodiac. Instead of Xs and Os, planets, asteroids, and their relationships diagram the “plays” that we must run and, hopefully, gain some karmic, emotional and material “yards”. Now, here we are, midway through the 4th quarter of this year/game, and the end zone is still far away. The question then must be asked: Is it time to punt-astrologically speaking?

To bein with, two significant Eclipse events will be occurring within two weeks of each other. I have previously written about the potential impact of the partial solar eclipse which occurs on Thanksgiving (a bit of astrological irony in that!). Still recovering from that potential “sack”, we’ll be in the huddle just in time for a total lunar eclipse on December 10th.

Careful attention needs to be paid to this lunar event which occurs in Gemini. Eclipses occurring in the sign of the Twins have often ushered in tempests and stormy weather; both of the meteorological and political/financial varieties, which are hurtful to humankind across the board. When an eclipse happens in a mutable sign, which Gemini is, the effects are immediate and can a long term impact. The effects of this particular eclipse could last well into the first quarter of 2012.

We can expect another “off the wall” storm to cause havoc with holiday shopping and life in general; quite possibly in the Northeast, although the Gulf States may also see something. Additionally, the crisis in Europe and here at home may heighten as France, England, Germany and the US all find themselves juggling too many financial eggs. North Africa (think Libya, Egypt, Jordan and Kuwait), too, may make the news and cause attention to focus on longer term results. The “Arab Spring” now passes to the Arab winter and more than snow may fall.

The fourth Mercury Retrograde of the year also starts on Thanksgiving. Personal relationships already operating under the annual strain of the start of the holiday seasons are going to have to deal with communication snafus of all types. Travel plans could become chaotic and the Messenger’s rearward dance will make trying to fix things challenging to say the least.

Of particular import is the fact that this retrograde will continue through the Lunar Eclipse and not end until December 13th. Mercury is the ruler of the sign of Gemini-this double impact of eclipse and retrograde is a lot like being taken down by a corner-blitz twenty yards back from the line of scrimmage. (In keeping with the football analogy). A possible earthquake/volcanic event is likely, particularly around the period of December 9-13th; the northwestern U.S. or perhaps Iceland could be the location of the event.

Mars and the Mercury the Messenger square each other twice during this period; the first is on December 4th and the second, New Year’s Eve. A difficult angle in a less “active” time, the energies of this aspect are going to be magnified by the Moon’s shadow dance and the Messenger’s reverse. Arguments and highly partisan views both in the public/governmental area and personal spaces as well, are going to lead to erroneous judgments in policy whose impact will be felt in the following months. Conclusions and “blame” will be reached without all the facts and the subsequent reactions will have less than positive effects. Financial markets may well find that what is in their proverbial stocking is a huge lump of economic coal. Somewhere Tiny Tim could be weeping.

Venus’ relationships with the other planets mirror the emotional aspect of the time. Having no fewer than seven major aspects during this period, the Goddess of Love highlights the emotional volatility of the moment. From passion and intensity, compassion and compromise to carelessness, self-indulgence and suspicion of motives, our personal and professional relationships need to be navigated with care to avoid “fumbling” away something important.

Last, but certainly not least, is the fact the Uranus – the Sky Lord-goes direct on December 10th. The impact of the Sky Lord moving through Aries cannot be understated. Now that it is direct, those energies will reassert themselves in dramatic fashion. It is fitting that, in traditional astrology, Uranus has been viewed as “higher octave of Mercury” impacting communications beyond conventional means. Given the Messenger’s upcoming role, the Sky Lord’s touch will be enhanced.

Sweeping changes for those in power (and those who seek it) will be the norm. Disgust with existing conventions and authority could lead to the abrupt end of outmoded structures and establishments. Look for a major political/financial event the week of the solstice (Dec. 22) that could begin a radical change both here and abroad; don’t be surprised if the revolution IS televised (or on YouTube)!

So as we break our huddle and approach the astrological line of scrimmage, we have to decide whether to “go for it” or punt-meaning to sit back and see what “the other team” has in mind. Either way, you can take confidence that the “playmakers” on Psychic Cosmos.com will be there to help and coach so that you can send in the right plays and find the end zone you are seeking.
