Previously, I have written on the astrological outlook for this country based on the progressed natal chart of the USA as we approach the tenth anniversary of 9-11. Yet for psychics and astrologers examining this crucial time is done through many different viewpoints. Much like the old mantra of real estate, an astrological analysis of what may be on the horizon can be all about, location, location, location. It is truly fitting that the location which is the nexus of this study is New York City.
In astrology there are a variety of methods that can be used both for forecasting and analysis of the interactions of people and places. Some of the most common methods are composite, combined and synastry charts. Of the three, the combined, or Davison Chart, seems to be best suited to examine the astrological relationship between the nation’s birthday and the tenth anniversary of one of the penultimate events in our history: 9-11.
What makes the Davison chart unique is that, unlike other progressed or composite charts, its basis is the midpoint between the two dates involved. That midpoint becomes a real point in time which allows the astrologer to treat it as a new birthday where all the aspects, house locations, etc., can be examined just as if it were an individual’s natal chart.
So, what are the significant features of this Davison chart created by taking the date of “birth” of the United States and the tenth anniversary of the moment of first impact on the World Trade Center? Perhaps no other planet carries has much weight and influence in that chart then the Ruler of the Gods, Jupiter.
To begin with, Jupiter is squared to the Sun, Moon, Mercury and the Midheaven. Squares are one of the major astrological aspects and are often an indicator of tension, conflict, strain and disruption. Having this many squares is certainly indicative of the potential for major upheavals both in the personal and national realm. Reality may be distorted by those seeking to profit from people making rash or emotional decisions based in insufficient information.
This could well mean a political response to a situation that is not exactly what it seems ultimately leading to greater difficulties. Illusions (or rather delusions) of grandeur could result in some hasty and regrettable decisions. More military involvement, another ill-timed financial scandal, or something more sinister concerning self-indulgent actions could be on the horizon to achieve a form of transient popularity.
It should be remembered that Pluto still is retrograde in Capricorn. This also marks a time of transition. The basic way we live could well begin to change in a dramatic fashion. That which has outlived its time will fall; the “Arab Spring” and the increasing clamor around the European Union and its finances are but two examples of this transformative energy.
In this Davison chart, Pluto resides in the 12th house. Traditionally, this is the House that governs large institutions like banks and governments. Hidden matters and hidden enemies reside here. This, too, is the house of self-undoing. Conversely, it is also the house of enlightenment. Clearly, the Dark Lord will be making his transformative nature known, though the long term effects may not appear outside the curtain.
It would seem that the potential for a life-altering experience either on or beginning on September 11, 2011 is high. Political, international and financial forces all appear on a collision course with fate with our very perspective and future path being the outcome.
While I have not stressed the impact of these energies on personal relationships, I would counsel that it is so important to take that moment to breathe before making any decisions, positive or negative, on affairs of the heart.
Above all, the key to weathering the rapids ahead is to balance the emotional compass with the intellectual one. This is not an easy task when heart and mind compete for dominance as will be the nature of things in this near future. Those who watch the stars and consult the forces of the universe will be ready to provide what aid they can. The future awaits all of us as the mystery unfolds.

We are less than a day from the ten year anniversary of one of the most tragic and profound moments in the history of this country: The attacks of 9-11 and the destruction of the World Trade Center. In recent articles, I have talked about the relationship that the country itself as to the events of that day, and the astrological relationships on the horizon and the blending of this country’s origin with the location of Ground Zero on September 11th, 2011.
Like other esoteric practitioners and astrologers, I have studied the upcoming anniversary from multiple angles. No astrological analysis would be complete, though, without focusing on the epicenter for that tumultuous day in New York City. Truly, this upcoming ten year mark will bring a “New York state of mind” to all of us.
The stars and planets, too, have their tale to tell. Looking at the progressed chart for New York City for September 11, 2011, one is struck by the curious absence of astrological aspects. There are only conjunctions between the Sun and Mercury and the Sun and Midheaven and a lonely conjunction between the Midheaven and Mercury. Although these are the only aspects on that day (there is a minor aspect known as a quintile as well, making a grand total of 4 aspects in the chart), the significance cannot be overlooked.
The Sun-Midheaven conjunction denotes the beginning or the end of a cycle, one has but to look at the financial and political aspects in the country to see that this could well commence on that day. This is when the proverbial chickens come home to roost from the patterns which are now coming to a close, whether the eggs laid are golden or toxic, remain to be seen.
The conjunction with Mercury focuses on the fact that we will need knowledge, both from inner and external sources, to truly comprehend what is occurring and, more to the point, how to move forward with this understanding. The Sun-Mercury conjunction strengthens our ability to handle stress in spite of our feelings of being overwhelmed. Given the potential of life-altering events in the political and financial arenas, this ability may well be needed by all.
When a combined in a synastry chart, or Davison chart is calculated however, the picture becomes clearer. For this combined chart, I used the date of New York City’s founding-August 29th, 1664 and the 9-11-11 anniversary date. Much like the Davison chart which I cast using the U.S. date of birth and the tenth anniversary, mighty Jupiter takes center stage.
There are no fewer than found oppositions in this chart involving the King of the Gods, Jupiter; the Sun, Venus, Mars and Uranus all find themselves opposite the largest of the planets. With the Sun, the desire to make promises that can’t be kept and being pretentious can cause issues. The opposition with Venus can cause over emotional responses to personal issues while the Martian and Uranus oppositions show loses through speculation, gambling, and over-indulgence. Clearly, these aspects combined point to a serious financial crisis marking the anniversary and, truly, putting this country under a different kind of attack.
One other piece of the astrological puzzle is that in this combined chart, Jupiter resides in the tenth house on 9-11. This is the house which governs karmic resolutions as well as government and political aims. Look for the rise (or resurgence) of a political agenda as an emotional response to the events of the anniversary. Ultimately, karma will be served although it may leave a bitter taste in the mouths of some.
It has not been my purpose or desire to be an online herald of doom. However, these relationships and forecasts are ultimately part of the path that we all tread. Through knowledge of their probability of occurring, we can strengthen ourselves for even the most extreme results. And, to paraphrase Mr. Joel once more, resilience and survival are truly the essence of “A New York State of Mind”.

This has been one tough Mercury Retrograde for individuals, as well as, around the globe. In the USA, we have been the victim of Hurricane Irene, the credit downgrade by the S&P, and Greece on the brink of default.
Now that it is officially over as of August 26, 2011, we should see things start to chug forward again. Some people find themselves starting over and in many ways this was a visit to the past to help clear out the debris. Others will have residue from Hurricane Irene and other water issues that need to be dealt with now to prevent further damage in the near future as we experienced three planets in Retrograde at the same time: Mercury, Pluto and Neptune.
Many relationships that were ‘defaulting’ ended during this period. If they didn’t end the relationship this time around, Mercury will go into another Retrograde phase on November 23rd – December 13th, 2011 in the sign of Sagittarius. The issues you were facing this time will again be in the forefront during the next retrograde.
This next Mercury Retrograde will affect any type of travel you may be thinking of during the Holiday Season starting around Thanksgiving. Make sure all of your travel plans are in motion by that time. You could expect delays and other snafus around that time. It should smooth out during the Christmas Season for travel.
Neptune and Pluto are still in Retrograde which can conjure up all kinds of water issues as was just experienced with Hurricane Irene. The damage from the flooding and excessive rain caused more damage than the Hurricane itself. Now is the time to make sure your home’s water systems are in proper working order. Flooding causes more damage than all other natural disasters and I expect this will be another whopping hurricane season.
Things involving liquid gas, oil, and water will continue to be affected by Pluto and Neptune. They will also affect the stock market in oil, heating oil, and natural gas as prices may continue their rise. Watch for lots more flooding and water related damage as the year moves on. It will not surprise me that there will be many more flooding issues that will affect a large number of the population. Make sure you have the right type of insurance whether you rent or own because you might need it.
The last half of December will be a much better time to make travel plans. Buy your heating oil as soon as is financially feasible to lock in lower prices now as they will start to rise dramatically as the year moves forward. This is going to be a high-priced season for all of us until these retrogrades pass.

Arguably, two of the most seminal dates in the history of the United States are July 4th and September 11th. As we approach the tenth anniversary of the 9-11 events, it is important to examine the astrological impact of the progression of the natal chart of the United Stated to September 11th, 2011 to provide both an understanding of where we are and, more importantly, where we are heading.
Why choose those two dates? While the former is the point in time when the U.S. came to be, the later certainly has become the hallmark that forever changed the course of our collective history and will continue to do so into the future.
At the risk of oversimplifying, a “progression” is the theory that the planets will advance one degree per year with the underlying proposition that a degree is equal to a day and a day is equal to a year. Using this approach, the astral march begins on July 4th, 1776 and completes its progressed path on September 11th, 2011. Using what is referred to as the Silbey Chart, the place of our country’s birth is the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, and the “time of birth” is 5:10 p.m.
By examining the progressed chart, we can see how we have arrived at this particular point with the myriad of issues that we are confronting: the financial morass that globally we are stuck in; the ever-increasing political, social, and personal divide that seems to grow with each passing news cycle; cataclysmic events (meteorological, geological and manmade) that confront us all, to mention but a few.
Looking at the planets first, we find that Mercury’s path shows that we are in a time when feelings trump rational thought in our responses to major issues. One has but to look at the recent debacle in Washington to underscore this trend. Venus progressed cautions against attempting to force or smother others with our views. Again, a glance at the internet is all that is needed to see this in action.
Powerful speakers will be competing with Martian energy to win hearts and minds. But, in the middle of the rhetoric and imagery, ultimately, nothing can be accomplished without accord. Jupiter’s path shows excess in actions that may be more harmful than good. Saturn reinforces the inflexibility of competing ideals and the inability to comprise while Uranus gets ready to deliver a jolt to complacency and forces a look to tomorrow.
Neptune reveals accusations from all corners that no one is willing to “put their money where their mouth is”. And the Dark Lord, Pluto? Plutonian energies are pushing one and all to a “do or die” mentality in making their point of view/philosophy/doctrine the one that matters.
Looked at in totally, September 11th, 2011 could mark some significant changes going forward. With strong emotions driving decision making, there is a great concern that impulsive actions or decisions, particularly in the political arena, could spell further difficulties in the financial realm. Both sides need to listen and heed society’s larger viewpoint rather than placing themselves above the crowd.
The need for teamwork is especially stressed; a major opportunity is liable to be missed in the name of ideology. There is a concern that the big picture; most likely in the international sphere may cause a failure to take care of mundane things at home. Finances, again, are front and center and the lack of real world perspective from all sides and could result in a major downturn.
Expect external forces to cause a further polarization of attitudes on all levels. Everyone wants to maintain the status quo but only at the expense of others. This makes planning for the future extremely daunting. It will seem that we are being tossed, literally, from pillar to post. Passionate speeches and rhetoric will dominate the news and only serve to fuel the discontent. Some institutions that were viewed as permanent could well come to an end.
Truly, the tenth anniversary of 9-11 will mark a dramatic time in our history. The heavens turn and change comes. More to the point, the progressed chart for the U.S. provides a unique, if unsettling clarification of the role that we will play in this cosmic dance.

I get the sense that August is not going to be just the “dog days” of summer but, rather, the baying of the hounds of Karma. Pluto which began its retro dance on April 9th, was joined by the Sea King, Neptune, on June 3rd and Uranus on July 10th. If all of these retrograde energies weren’t enough, there is the impending Mercury retrograde of August 2nd, with Jupiter following suit on August 30th.
These planets have a generational and world impact both in the near and short term. Pluto bespeaks of transition through upheaval. Neptune’s backward path can cloud the reality of things even as we are being warned that wishing never makes it so. Uranus, the ethereal one, brings the uncertainty of life and unexpected events crashing home. Mighty Jupiter, traditional ruler of the Gods, crumbles the best laid plans and forces us to look within to learn what truly is important.
Overshadowing all of this is the impact on communications, understanding and messages, both internal and external, from the second Mercury retrograde of the year. Always chaotic, combined with these larger forces, the Messenger’s path will add undue complications on many fronts.
What is on the political horizon? The unrest and uncertainty of the last few months is going to dramatically escalate. There may well be a dramatic fall from power that will stun the world. Outmoded governments will continue to topple and many around the globe will come to realize that much of what they believed was a mere illusion. The financial world is still shaky and even if a debt ceiling agreement is reached, the ramifications of the debate will echo loudly both here and abroad.
Trust in our traditional institutions, such as the media (yes, even social media), government, banks, and other symbols of power and order is going to be under a great deal of stress. Another major scandal could rear its head at the start of the Mercury retrograde. Ultimately, we may have to learn to trust ourselves first, even if it seems we are flying in the face of convention.
Weather and Planet? The almost constant earthquake events we have been seeing could peak to a much larger occurrence during the second week of August. Japan could be a target again although there is a strong possibility of this event happening in the Western Hemisphere. Labor Day may bring the Sea King’s wrath in the form of a hurricane that shows up almost unannounced with drastic results.
Even as the karma of the past is put paid in the present, we may well find that, like the Phoenix of legend, we can rise from the chaos and move forward to build a new, stronger path. It can only be hoped…..

As I predicted a powerful earthquake struck the Kermadec Islands off the coast of New Zealand today. These volcanic islands are not inhabited, but, are used as a scientific outpost and weather monitoring station. I predicted this in May for a New Zealand earthquake.
It happened at 7:03am this morning according to the USGS and was approximately 30 miles deep. There was a Tsunami warning which later was cancelled. New Zealand itself, does not expect any damage.
New Zealand will continue to be in the news as earthquakes strike. This will continue through the rest of this year. Japan can also expect more earthquakes. They have them often, however, they are mild compared to the March 11, 2011 quake that killed thousands, causing major damage to a nuclear plant which leaked massive radiation.

I do feel that Japan’s earthquakes are not over. That being said, I feel strongly about other earthquakes that will hit India in the Fall, Western Canada, and Alaska. There will be damage to homes and buildings as a result. New Zealand and Mexico are forewarned later this year for more and stronger earthquakes.
The severe weather patterns we are currently experiencing around the world are just the beginning of what is to come. Again, it will be important for people who live in these critical areas to get prepared. Flooding on the eastern US will be uncommon and everywhere in the news.
We tend to just live life as though it will not happen to us. Believe me, it will. It is time to really ‘get it’. Yes, it can happen to you. I truly hope that people will have emergency kits, water and an evacuation plan in place. Now is not the time to think it will not happen to you.
Security will lie with those that are prepared in food, water, and an alternative source of power if you can afford it. This summer, wild fires will be on the rise in places that do not normally get them. Yes, it can affect you and I urge you, especially in California to make a plan and be willing to execute it. You will not be sorry.

From what I see so far during the start of this tornado season, this is just the beginning of the worst disasters yet in the US. Severe weather patterns will continue on through the summer with flooding, tons of rain on the east coast and major droughts. The southern states will get hit very hard with heat. Some areas will get completely flattened due to the tornado activity.
I also see many states with wild fires this summer, especially in Texas and Arizona. There will be more of them and they will burn longer than normal. Drought will continue in Texas as the season continues. Just when they think they have the fires under control, more will occur. This is not a good year for Texas in the weather department especially with the lack of rain.
More hurricanes will be on record this year and bring with them torrential rains. They will continue to devastate towns all across the eastern part of the US states. Flooding is going to be much more than normal with huge rain storms yet to come.
Texas is going to really get hit with wild fires this year which will be very costly to those who will lose their homes. I expect to see severe weather patterns there getting worse over the next few months.
Over these next few of months, I see North Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama having major flooding problems with an unusual amount of rain yet to come. It will be one of the worst summer for storms and record. North Carolina will also get dangerous tornadoes with wild swings in the weather. There will be major flooding in the New England states and New York is one of those states.
Flooding and tornados will create disaster in several states. This will be an unusually unpredictable summer season for New York State and New Jersey. The damage will be from flooding, indirectly from tropical storms and hurricanes. On the North Eastern Coast nmost people will not heed the evacuation warnings.
As I have noted previously, tonight”s full moon marks the the culmination of the Moon’s closest passage with our blue planet. Beginning in February, this lunar close encounter, known as the Super Moon, has exerted its influence on matters involving the planet, human events, emotions, the weather and our own emotions. While conventional science may wish to discount the impact of this astronomical/astrolgoical event, the evidence streches the concept of “mere coincidence” to the breaking point and beyond.
The violent weather throughout the southern United States on the eve of the full moon , including an unprecedented 90 reported tornado sightings in North Carolina, is just the latest example of the impact that the moon’s passage can and does have’ something that even conventional science has acknowledged through studies of tidal shifts and wind. Coupled with the ongoing crisis in Japan, the continuing unrest in North Africa, the Ivory Coast, and now Nigeria, and our own emotionally charged debate over our economic and budget crisis, the coming of this full moon-the third of three full Super Moons-serves notice that the curtain on this act of the human drama is just now rising.
Astrologers, like those here at Psychic Cosmos, have been watching the unfolding of this year fully aware of the potential impact that could be facing everyone. In addition to the lunar energies already in play, there is the ongoing Mercury Retrograde which has definitely scrambled comprehension of the meanings of many important messages, disrupted others (have you noticed how your internet and or cell phone seems to be acting a bit “odd” in the last two weeks or so?) and added an air of uncertainty over even day to day decisions. In addition to the Mercury Retro and Super Moon effects, both Mars and Saturn are going to contribute to the instability which seems to be increasing daily.
Today, Mars opposed Saturn-so the agressiveness and impulsiveness of the red planet now conflicts the Great Leveler-as Saturn is known. This could well result in additional conflicts in the world arena that could further undermine the existing regimes without any clear replacement. Tomorrow, Mercury and Mars conjoin. The impact of this aspect cannot be overstated; chaotic communications leading to impulsive actions that could result in an unexpected upheaval. Not everything is as it seems and with our emotions tossed on the tides of Luna, doors that should not be opened could lead to results that are far more devastating than first thought. Politics and scandal may be in the offing in the next fortnight.
Lastly, the Dark Lord-Pluto-will continue to exert the energies of transformation through destruction. A violent storm within the next two weeks is not out of the question and atomic issues-perhaps well beyond the Land of the Rising Sun-may make us all pause and reassess what truly matters.
The curtain rises and the players take the stage-knowing that these celestial energies are in play can help us take stock of events that unfold to understand our place in them. Illuminated by the light of a Super Moon, we can use this knowledge choose to flow with the tides rather than be swept away by them.

From the article I wrote in the beginning of August, Summer 2011 Predicitons, it is apparent that those predictions are playing out with accuracy. Astrology can pinpoint major events on a global level and the direction things will be heading. I used progressed charts starting with July 4th to the present to calculate the areas that will affect the US and other countries, as well.
September may bring Neptune’s wrath in the form of a hurricane that shows up almost unannounced. Abnormal amounts of rain will inundate the east coast with tornado warnings. Flooding, gas leaks bursting water pipes will be in the headline news. This Fall make sure your own home water systems are in good repair, as the negativity of Neptune in retrograde promises water and liquid issues, especially on the east coast.
There may well be a dramatic fall from power that will stun the world. Outmoded governments will continue to topple and many around the globe will come to realize that much of what they believed was mere illusion. “This influence can be felt two or three weeks out-again right during the final days before the deadline. Jupiter’s emphasis on law and moral authority is going to be reflected by the continued deadlock of two groups, each of whom is saying “I am right”.”
And from my yearly predictions back in Dec. of 2010, referring to the third quarter of the year:
“Of even greater significance is the Uranus Retrograde that beings on July 9th and carries through to December 9th. This is the textbook aspect for the phrase “Expect the unexpected”. Outward behavior, particularly by public figures, may be “just for public consumption” and may mask hidden feelings and agendas. Trust in all institutions is going to take a real hit during this time, and many of us will be left wondering exactly where we fit in.”
