With the start of the winter season, finding a way to take that casual meeting or beginning dating relationship to the next level is on everyone’s mind (and heart). You know what you are feeling and, while the attraction seems to be mutual, you really don’t know the next step to take. On the one hand, being pushy might drive him away and yet, ‘playing hard to get’ might cause him to look elsewhere for someone who is interested in something more intense.

Fortunately, you can use the inherent power of the Moon to focus your energies and emotions so that he’ll know that you are worth the time and can truly be the one he’s been looking for. This applies to a woman who wants to attract a man. The advice here can be used by either gender in the same fashion to use Moon power to attract and connect with the person you want to become involved with.

When the Moon is full, our natural cycles, just like the tides, can ebb and flow. This is true for both men and women. While women have always known about the Moon’s power on the life cycle, men may be more reluctant to acknowledge this although their emotions are impacted just as strongly.

This is an important time for you to truly listen to the ‘goddess within’ and allow your emotional tides to become full. This applies to a woman who wants to attract a man the advice here can be used by either gender in the same fashion to use Moon power to attract and connect with the person you want to become involved with.

The Moon governs dreams, the unconscious mind, and first impressions among many other things. Most important, the Moon also governs personal magnetism. Since the effect of a lunar eclipse begins almost immediately and follows for some months after (as opposed to a solar eclipse whose effects can take longer to be felt) using that emotional energy during an eclipse is a great way to make the kind of impression that could make him dream of you, consciously and unconsciously, drawing him to you as if you were a magnet.

The easiest way to use the energy of a lunar eclipse is to make every effort to be with the person you are interested as close to the start of the eclipse as possible. If this connection can’t be in person, try to connect online or by phone. As you feel the strong, inner pull of the Moon’s energies, open your heart and allow those feelings to flow towards him. He may well find himself responding from a deeper, more spiritual place that ever before. As the Moon begins to reappear, allow the gentle ebb of the intensity that you feel to draw back. His response may well be to ‘follow the tide’ and, in doing so, draw closer to its source, namely, your heart.

Lunar eclipses are a time to face the unknown and explore the depth of our feelings and to seek out that connection with a like-minded soul. Using the energies unleashed by the eclipse, you can help explore his/her feelings, and to find that connection that drew the two of you together in the first place.

If you have your love interest’s birth date, place of birth and time of birth, as well as your own, seek out a skilled astrologer or an expert who combines psychic readings with astrology, to do a synastry chart for the two of you so you can have a ‘star map’ to guide your path as a couple as the eclipse brings your hearts together.

Of all the celestial events that we witness in the heavens, perhaps none are as profound in terms of their effect on the human psyche and spirit as an eclipse. Whether it is the Earth’s shadow cast upon the Moon (lunar eclipse) or Luna moving between Sun and Earth (solar eclipse), this cosmic shadow dance has long been recognized as a time of portents and power.

Now, in an already tumultuous month, two of these heavenly minuets will occur: the solar eclipse of Nov. 13 and, a fortnight later, a lunar eclipse on Nov. 28.

Solar eclipses were sources of legends wonder and fear to ancient cultures across the globe. Chinese legends hold that a dragon is devouring the sun and it is the duty of the people to scare the dragon off with drums and shooting arrows towards the darkness. The Vikings felt that a solar eclipse would one day foretell the start of the final battle of Ragnarok ending the world of gods and men while the Native American Choctaw tribe believed that a black squirrel, a symbol of mischief, would try and eat the sun at intervals and that the people would have to chase him away in order to enjoy the warmth and light from above.

Lunar eclipse legends are just as diverse. Ancient Buddhists felt that during a lunar eclipse all karmic actions are multiplied a thousand times. The Serrano Indians of California felt that an eclipse was the result of the spirits of the dead trying to eat the Moon. Shamans were called in to dance to appease the restless departed while the rest of the tribe fasted in order to starve them away and restore the beacon of the night. The Japanese covered wells to keep poison from dropping into them from the darkened sky.

Beyond the legends and myths, astrologers have looked carefully at eclipses as tools for forecasting upcoming events. The solar eclipse of Nov. 13 occurs in the sign of Scorpio. Traditional astrology notes that the sign of the Scorpion brings about death, rebirth and an examination of attitudes and beliefs.

Ancients such as Ptolemy, the father of astrology, felt that a solar eclipse in this sign (which was traditionally ruled by Mars) could lead to mass conflict and untrustworthy or betrayed leaders. Also events involving the seas (and surrounding areas) could make a potent impact. Given that this particular solar eclipse also occurs during the last Mercury retrograde of the year and with Neptune, the Sea King, gong direct, this could mark the start of a dramatic shift in events with unanticipated conflicts and political change a focal point.

The lunar eclipse of Nov. 28, though more subtle in impact, is no less important. Occurring in the sign of the Twins, Gemini, the energies here will impact the financial markets as the line between public and private power becomes blurred. These effects will be particularly enhanced in those countries governed by Gemini which includes the United States. Storms, meteorological and political, are also likely to occur.

Yet, for all the mystery and energies that swirl around this sky-dance, I prefer an old legend that holds that if a couple kisses during a lunar eclipse is still full that their love will keep them together for all time. The power of love can illuminate all darkness whether solar or lunar with the light shared by two hearts. With the changes that are approaching, this illumination becomes more important than ever.

Even as Mercury the Messenger, Saturn the Great Leveler and Mars the God of War right their paths once again on April 4th (Mercury), June 25th (Saturn) and April 13th (Mars), several new and equally significant astrological events come into play. On March 11th, Daylight Savings begins as a precursor to the Vernal Equinox on March 19th. With the influence of the Mercury retrograde just beginning at that time, the chronological shift and the start of a new season could add to the confusion surrounding the globe. An unexpected storm could add to the other tensions and serve as a harsh reminder of the old saying:

“March comes in like a lion…”

Of greater concern is that the Dark Lord, Pluto, goes into reverse on April 10th. Still in Capricorn, the Dark Lord’s energies are bent on transformation through the destruction of the old and outmoded. In retrograde, we must face the shadow side of things; a scandal, a realization that plans for the future were built on sand not rock, secrets which, in coming forth, will dramatically impact a major institution. Geologically speaking, the Earth, too, may let loose a ‘secret’ in the form of a volcano or major quake, especially during the early part of this retrograde from April through the end of June.

There is one particular date which bears close attention: June 4. On that day, three powerful events impose their energies on the planetary pallet which could leave a profound mark across the globe. First, a total Lunar Eclipse occurs during the Full Moon. Second, Venus squares Mars and, finally, Neptune, the Sea King, goes retrograde.

In a previous article, I have discussed the potency of the Neptune retrograde:

Neptune, astrologically speaking, has long been associated with mysticism, idealism and compassion. When affected by negative influences and aspects with other planets, these characteristics can change into delusion and deception as well as a lack of focus and confusion. During a Neptune retrograde, there is a heightened sensitivity to things that go wrong and logic is often replaced with dreams and delusions. These feelings often collide with the stark reality of the real world, i.e., ‘pie in the sky’ meets pie in the face.

Combined with Luna’s energy during an eclipse, the Neptune’s wrath may well make itself known in the form of a hurricane or other ocean-based catastrophe. Since Neptune also rules oil and natural gas, the possibility of a gas crisis (either from a natural or political event) is increased as well. This could well be the start of a long, hot summer-in many ways.

The square of Venus and Mars denotes a lot of emotional issues, particularly those involving the sexes. While more personal in nature, this stress could indirectly contribute to the overall sense of frustration, jealousy and resentment that could play a bigger role in political matters which are already front and center.

Finally there is one last event that must be acknowledged: The solar eclipse during the new moon on May 20. Eclipses have long been recognized as potent sources of energy. This particular eclipse occurs at the beginning of the sign of Gemini. Many ancient astrologers, such as Raphael, noted that an eclipse during an air sign, such as Gemini, was often a portent of ‘stormy winds hurtful to mankind’. In context, this could mean the political/financial storms brewing around the globe as well as actual meteorological events.

Raphael also noted that a solar eclipse during the first part of Gemini could denote ‘dissension and strife among clergy and religious denominations’. Viewed in today’s world setting, the warning here is all too obvious.

Shakespeare in Richard III wrote about the ‘winter of our discontent’. Will the spring of 2012 be even more tumultuous? Interesting times are ahead.

Go Well – Lou

It has long been an astrological belief that the event of a solar eclipse can signify a dramatic (or in some instances traumatic) event that impacts leaders and those in power. This can be brought about through actions of humankind or nature. Given the fact that Pluto continues to reside in Capricorn, the Dark Lord’s role as the harbinger of change through destruction of the old and outmoded order of things will also lend its transformative strength to this cosmic crossing.

It is also important to look at the closest planetary aspect to the  solar eclipse. In this case, the Moon being squared to Neptune, whose impending retrograde is already beginning to assert its energies. Mental confusion, distorted communications and impressions, water issues (floods, hurricanes, etc.), gas and mineral issues will all be impacted. Looking at the effect on natural resources that the eclipse itself is bringing, a potential problem with gas or oil could push the financial markets to a critical mass in the days just before and after Memorial Day.

Extremes in emotions are also likely as a result of the Moon/Neptune square with the desire to escape reality being almost irresistible. Trying to determine what is hype and what is real could be a challenge, especially since Mercury, the ever constant Messenger, is the ruler of Gemini and as such, impacted particularly hard by the May 20 event. The effects will be similar to a Mercury retrograde and, combined with the other energies, communication miscues are particularly strong during the last week in May and could lead to some dire situations, both personally and on a world wide scale.

We are being directed to a point where change is coming whether we are ready for it or not. The week of June 4, a scant fortnight hence from this solar eclipse, could be one of the most profound that many of us will ever witness. The true question will be how we chose to face the unfolding of these events. Old philosophies, beliefs, and political structures are susceptible to crumbling.

Perhaps it is a fitting irony that much of the financial turmoil, both in Europe and the rest of the world, seems to be focused on Greece. As the spiritual birth place of the earlier Helios, later identified as Apollo the Sun God, the impending ride of the Sun God in his golden chariot through the land of shadow will leave a trail that we can look back on and say with wonder, “We were there”.  This is one solar eclipse that we may well look back on.

The ancient Greco-Roman god Apollo was said to drive his golden chariot across the sky daily bringing the light of day and ushering in the darkness of night only to repeat the celestial journey the next morning. But sometimes, Apollo’s ride takes him through the land of shadows. These ‘shadow moments’ are solar eclipses and there is one about to occur on May 20th, 2012. Eclipses, both solar and lunar, have been viewed as powerful events that can portend the future, warn of impending danger, and bring about calamitous changes on a global scale.

For this reason, astrologers for centuries have attempted to plot when these solar encounters occur. Some records from ancient cultures going back between 3,000 and 4,000 years documenting eclipses have been found. Clearly, the impact that an eclipse can have is profound on several levels. Modern day astrologers continue to observe and interpret the impact of this solar event.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon’s path takes it between the Sun and the Earth. A significant astrological feature is that solar eclipses only happen during the new moon phase of the lunar cycle. Thus, both Luna’s energy and Old Sol’s powers are intensified. While there are four types of eclipses, this one is an annular eclipse which means that Sun and Moon are aligned although the Moon appears smaller in size. This is the first annular eclipse that will be visible in the U.S. since 1994. As such, the impact of this eclipse will be felt most directly here in this country.

Astrologers look to a number of variables when forecasting the potential effect of eclipses. Both the element (fire, earth, air, water) of the sign that the eclipse occurs in and its accompanying quadraplicity (cardinal, fixed, mutable) are important in this process. The upcoming eclipse occurs in Gemini which is a mutable air sign. Noted classical astrologers such a Raphael and Ptolemy have noted that the impact of eclipses occurring in the mutable signs will be more immediate but may also have stops and restarts.

In addition, since this particular eclipse occurs right on the cusp between Taurus and Gemini we have to look at the influence of the sign of the Bull as well. Taurus, being a fixed Earth sign, brings a specter of shortages of resources as well with the additional possibility of a seismic or volcanic event. Although this could happen within a few days of May 20th, the full impact of the Taurus energies will not occur until middle or late June.

A Solar eclipse in an air sign denotes difficult times involving natural resources, violent winds and storms. It is quite possible that a weather-related event or events could impact the Western part of the country (which is where the eclipse first appears) as soon as a few days following the solar dance. Memorial Day weekend could also bring some type of issue involving a natural resource that will have impacts through the subsequent months.

The ancients also noted that when an eclipse occurs during the first third of an astrological month, the effects can occur for upwards of four months from that time. These divisions of an astrological month are called Decantes. As mentioned above, this eclipse occurs during at Oº 21 minutes of Gemini which puts it in the First Decante. This is important as it speaks to religious strife and a general contempt for all rules both man-made and natural. A major conflict either between opposing religions or in the name of religion between now and the beginning of June could impact world markets and natural resources.

It should be noted that while a Solar eclipse is said to bring new beginnings, the new beginnings can be for the better or for the worse. Either way, it starts a new cycle with powerful warnings, especially the Solar eclipse on May 20, 2012.

When the new Moon and the Sun are in the same degree in the zodiac, a Solar eclipse occurs.  Solar eclipses are always followed two weeks later by Lunar eclipses.  Eclipses happen about every six months and do not necessarily fall in any given month as they can happen in any month during the year.

The eclipse of the Sun, also known as a Solar eclipse, can happen as many as seven times per year.  A Solar eclipse always happens during a new Moon.  They are generally known to give us a boost toward a new start whether it is a relationship, work or project.  They generally have a positive effect unless it happens in an afflicted area of your birth chart.

During a Solar eclipse, the Moon blocks out the light of the Sun and is definitely time for change.  It can force us to take on challenge and make us feel ‘edgy’ or anxious without knowing why.  Our emotions can feels strange and make us feel like we are under pressure in a strange way.  It can also bring on the buildup of an already existing crisis depending on where it falls in your chart or a nation’s chart.

The ancients were skilled astrologers and were able to predict when eclipses would happen.  They believed that the red color of a Lunar eclipse meant that the Moon was beaten eaten.  Eclipses whether Solar or Lunar were a great source of fear to them, and while they did not know the cause, they knew that radical change for better or worse was on its way.

Depending on how long the eclipse lasts is tied to how long the effect of it will last.  For example, if it lasts for one hour, expect that a solar eclipse’s affect will last approximately one year or until the next solar eclipse.  All eclipses, whether they are solar or lunar, will generally change the course of the future.

A Solar eclipse is a big burst of energy and where ever it falls in your chart, it will be felt the most.  For example, if you have been thinking of moving and not done anything about it yet, a Solar eclipse will open the door and for all practical purposes, practically shove you out the door of your old habitat.  While you may not have thought you were ready to make the move, it will happen anyway and often ahead of where you thought you were.

Eclipses have a powerful way of influencing and  modifying current circumstances whether it be an individual or a nation.  Just remember that a solar eclipse will add to, amplify and/or change your current circumstances often times bringing us the opportunities we have been waiting and wishing for.  Be careful what you wish for!

May 20th Artemis Diana shares the celestial state with Old Sol as a Solar Eclipse occurs during the new or, as it is often called, the Dark Moon.  This is the point when not even a sliver of the moon can be seen as it starts its monthly course. During the Dark Moon (truly the dark side of Luna) we are confronted with our own shadow sides, facing truths that we have either ignored or tried to hide from.

The Dark Moon brings out the inner nature of things, deceit, deception, secrets, envy, vengeance and those hidden feelings (and truths) that we know either consciously or intuitively, but refuses to acknowledge unless forced to by circumstance. This Dark Moon occurs in the Sign of the Twins, Gemini. This astrological sign has particular significance for us since it governs the U.S., much of England, Belgium, part of Egypt and Tripoli (among other locations).

The Solar Eclipse which accompanies the Dark Moon is also in Gemini. Ancient tradition holds that eclipses in air signs often are harbingers of tempests and stormy weather. This could refer to meteorological or human events. Also, since the eclipse occurs during the first third of the month, conflict between religious groups (or philosophies) could rise as well. With the Messenger as the ruling planet of the Twins, communication issues leading to confrontation are highly likely.

This could start in the political arena but spill, rapidly, into the financial realm as well. The dark side of a situation could lead to a revelation or confession that will have an impact in the coming months and, quite possibly years. This situation cautions you that you may hear things that you truly don’t want to hear, but need to know anyway.

This leads to the third significant event involving the Moon in this thirty day cycle: the full Lunar eclipse on June 4th. On that particular date, and those immediately surrounding it, could mark a dramatic shift in the world as we know it on several levels. Eclipses in fire signs such as this one in Sagittarius, often mark the beginning of a period of conflict, turmoil and strife, the falling of leaders (either through scandal or otherwise), and damage to property and riches.

The Moon’s impact on weather and the oceans should not be discounted either. With Neptune, the Sea King, also going retrograde during this eclipse, seismic, meteorological or volcanic activity may come within that week as an unwelcome yet overwhelming visitor whose impact will leave many stunned by it suddenness and totality.

Given the other astrological events that are going to take place during this time, the profound effect of this lunar eclipse could be felt throughout the summer. Eclipses often denote endings, and the one on June 4th will mark an ending of something major: political and financial seem the most likely arenas for this to unfold, although a long-held belief could also come crashing down at this time.  This will truly be a time to face the conflict between what we know and what we need to learn.

It must be noted that the focus on the profound effects of the Orb of Diana (our Moon) and the astrological events which are on the horizon, this is not something that occurs in a vacuum. Rather, Luna’s role in the cosmic dance will be just one (albeit an important one) of several planetary players whose courses are going to shake and reshape our world. The astrologers and psychics alike are quite focused on the near future and the power of a Dark Moon.
