As the late Eddie Cochran first noted (and later quoted by Blue Cheer and The Who) “There ain’t no cure for the summertime blues.” Given what looms on the astrological horizon, this phrase certainly carries particular weight. While the quote from Richard III (thank you, Mr. Shakespeare) “Now is the winter of our discontent..” speaks to the season so recently past, I feel that the next two or three months could possibly have an even greater impact on our world and our lives.

Remember that the Plutonian effect is overshadowing everything. the Dark Lord still resides in Capricorn and will stay in retrograde mode until Sept 16th. The upheavals that we have seen politically, socially, meteorologically, geologically and financially will continue to transform either through change or destruction that which no longer fits the path of the future.

Additionally, Neptune goes retrograde on June 3rd. The Sea King’s change of direction can have powerful consequences; the 2010 Gulf Oil Disaster is a case in point. As I noted in a previously article:

“Neptune, astrologically speaking, has long been associated with mysticism, idealism and compassion. When affected by negative influences and aspects with other planets, these characteristics can change into delusion and deception as well as a lack of focus and confusion. Of particular interest, though, is the fact in geological astrology, Neptune is directly associated with oil and gas During a Neptune retrograde, there is a heightened sensitivity to things that go wrong and logic is often replaced with dreams and delusions. These feelings often collide with the stark reality of the real world, i.e., “pie in the sky” meets pie in the face.”

If these events weren’t enough, Uranus joins the backwards dance on July 9th. Long recognized as the planet of change, innovation, and risk, Uranus’ influence will highlight a period of instability on all fronts. As one astrologer has put it: “During this time, expect the unexpected”. When the Dark Lord and Sea King blend their energies with this Ruler of the Heavens, the potential for explosive events is multiplied. More violent overthrows of outmoded governments abroad, economic challenges at home, and stark reminders on both coasts (hurricanes and earthquakes come to mind) that Terra, ultimately, will dominate humanity’s efforts to control her.

Added to this astrological mix is the partial New Moon Eclipse of July 1st, while Luna finds herself in opposition to Pluto and squared to Uranus. Emotional turmoil on many fronts could be a major part of the “fireworks” of July 4th; definitely focusing on the home front could help provide some semblance of order midst the chaos.

Although there will be many changes coming, this does not and should not mean that all is lost. It seems that times of trouble often provide the backdrop for some of our finest moments and efforts. Perhaps, this is the message that the heavens are bringing.

We cannot live midst obstructions forever and there are moments, such as this, that the universe does demand that we change and evolve even against our wishes. Growth can lead to new pathways. The skilled counselors here at Psychic Cosmos will be ready to help provide guidance in finding these new directions.

And as for the astrological events on the horizon, it must always be remembered that they act as both an influence and a mirror for what occurs here on our frail blue planet. The ancient seers knew this and set out a truth which is as valid today as ever:

“As above, so below”

Go well.

Good point. I hadn’t thought about it quite that way. :) So far only two eclipses and one more to go – then of course, the infamous mercury retrograde in august. This is going to be a doozy of a summer.
