I have noticed that since the Economy has been so hard on so many people, we, as advisers, are more than just readers. It seems we are here for moral support and moral boosting as well as for giving readings. I have learned to wear many hats during any given day, be more open-minded, and offer choices to clients, as well as present a reading.
People need to feel hopeful, not hear more doom and gloom. Even if a reading shows obstacles, I always try to present ways to overcome or circumvent the obstacles. I definitely feel that more people are seeking advice from advisers, searching for hope during hard times. I feel that we are more needed than ever to not only read for our clients, but to offer them hope and choices, to help them get through these hard economic times.
I thought I would do a Tarot reading for Tiger Woods:
The conflict he is experiencing right now that is stopping him from his previous form in golf, is that his primordial/animal instincts have gotten out of control, and are running him now. He doesn’t seem to have the strength to control these urges/instincts. Its good to have fire and passion, but they have to be directed, especially at the level that he is playing at. His greatest battle and fear is about controlling himself and the “animal urges”. This is having a detrimental effect on his game.
The past affairs/secret meetings were feeding this aspect of himself, and he was using that energy to win games. The act of “fooling everyone” was like a drug, and now he has to find a new source of energy within himself, and direct it with focus. He was actually taking or stealing energy from the women he was involved with, and using it to make himself stronger. This type of energy thieving never works out in the end, because its not an equal energy exchange, and usually the other person that is giving will be depleted, and withdraw their energy. Karma always steps in to bring balance to the situation.
Whether he ever really fully recovers to his former glory in golf is in his hands; he does have the choice to follow this path again, but he needs to face his fears, learn to control the lower/animal energies, and overcome these fears. I do see that he will improve around December 2010/January 2011, and that will give him a big confidence boost, but there is still a lot of balancing/rebalancing going on for him for at least the next 6 months.
You can easily connect with different elements during the day without sitting and spending 30 minutes or an hour meditating. By connecting with the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Space, you bring balance to your energy field, and connect the internal elements with the outer representation of these elements.
This practice is from the ancient Bon Po shamanic tradition, which predates buddhism, and is the basis of dzogchen buddhist path. This practice is from the book “Healing with Form, Energy and Light b: The Five Elements in Tibetan Shamanism, Tantra and Dzogchen by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche”. I will give you a basic outline of how to do this meditation.
These meditations can be done by looking at the element, imagining the feel of the element, and imagining that the element is soaking into your body, bones, muscles, cells, chakras and aura. Imagination is the key here, and the success of this practice is easy to tell- you will start having many positive experiences in your life.
Earth: You can connect with the earth by walking on the earth barefoot, feeling its stability and the gravity that holds you here on earth. This element gives stability, grounding, healing and helps you to hold onto any positive energies you get from connecting with all the elements.
Air: Air is free, flowing, a quick energy that also can blow away any negative energies in you and lift your spirit or mood. You can stand outside on a windy day, or pretend that a breeze is blowing around you, taking away any negative energies that you no longer want. When you are feeling stuck, connect with air to release this feeling.
Water: Water brings comfort, a feeling of joy, can hold anything, and can go around any obstacles. You can connect with water while in the shower, bath, washing dishes, drinking a glass of water or by looking at a body of water. Bring that feeling of comfort and joy into your body. Water is also linked with cleansing and purification, so imagine the element is doing that to you.
Fire: Fire burns away negativities, it also ripens and nurtures positive qualities, just as the sun nutures the fruit to ripen. Fire is the basis of creativity, so if you are feeling uncreative, bring that feeling of fire and heat into your body/energy field. You can connect by looking at a fire, a candle flame or just imagining a warm energy going into your body, flowing all around you.
Space: This is not usually talked about in other teachings. In Bon Po, space is very important, since all the elements occur here in space, and connecting with space is very healing. Space is expansive, open, and infinite. Not having enough space in your life can lead you to feeling you are doing too much, and don’t have enough time to complete. Easiest way to connect to space is sky-gazing, and bringing that expansive energy into yourself.
You can spend time on just one element that you think you need to connect with, or a little bit of time during the day on each element. This practice helps to bring the positive qualities of the elements into you, and clear obstacles or obstructions. Good luck with it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
As the Yogi Berra quote above noted, time can run out and chaos can act up sooner than we expect. In the last twenty-four hours, in different parts of the globe, the Sea King’s disturbance at moving in reverse has been abundantly evident. All of these have been reported today, October 26th:
a) Severe storms, near-hurricane-force winds blow through Midwest
b) At least 112 dead, more than 500 missing after Indonesia quake
c) Volcano erupts in Indonesia, forcing thousands to flee
d) Cholera kills 1,555 in Nigeria, says U.N.
Between the effects on the Earth and it’s elements that Neptune exerts and the qualities of the unexpected that are hallmarks of Uranus, these chaotic events should serve as a reminder that the old rule “as above, so below” is very much in play-even in the 21st century.
And, just think, there’s an election next week and a Mercury retrograde within a month. To again quote the esteemed Mr. Berra “It ain’t over till it’s over”.
